We are seeking to appoint a 12-month, fixed-term Teaching Associate in
Human Computer Interaction (HCI) to join an expanding and collegiate team of computer scientists within the School of Computer Science & Digital Technologies in order to provide maternity leave cover.


Within the School we deliver distinctive programmes at undergraduate and Masters levels that achieve some of the highest employability rates for CS graduates in the UK.

We value impactful research and our expertise includes AI, robotics, machine learning, natural language processing, HCI, computing education, digital health, software engineering, cybersecurity, data science, and computer engineering, often spanning discipline boundaries within the context of a vibrant digitally-focused research strategy at College and University level.


The new Aston 2030 strategy will position the University at the cutting edge of digital transformation by focusing strategically on value creation and impact realisation at the interfaces between Health, Digital and Technology.

By establishing a new interdisciplinary Aston Digital Futures Institute (ADFI), to be launched during , our ambition is to grow research capability and capacity in the Digital Futures space, particularly in the areas of AI in Health, Data Science and Bioinformatics, Gamification and Digital Society.


The University's location is in the heart of the city of Birmingham, and within the city's designated 'Knowledge Quarter', which will drive technological innovation in digital tech and health tech.

It is therefore a particularly exciting time to join Computer Science at Aston.

You will have an MSc or PhD in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) or a related discipline.


Your teaching duties may include contributions to theory and practice-based modules at undergraduate and Masters levels, for both conventional on-campus and degree apprenticeship programmes.
