As a receptionist within the Emergency Department you'll play a key part in ensuring the best possible care for all patients attending the department by undertaking a range of administrative and reception responsibilities that support patient care.

An understanding of confidentiality is essential as well as a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. You must be educated to a GCSE standard (or equivalent) and have experience working in an office environment. Hospital experience including knowledge of Lorenzo would be desirable, good communication skills and excellent keyboard skills are essential.

Full training for this post will be provided.

We Operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so a flexible approach to a working shift pattern is required.

Your shifts will often involve working night shifts, weekends and bank holidays. You will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills who can work well under pressure, often using common sense.

We have three part time posts open at the moment. All working 20 hours a week.

  • To provide a high standard of clerical support to the various departments within the Acute & Emergency Medicine Care Group.
  • The post holder will rotate the across the functions of the departments, to provide a comprehensive administrative support to the main department, Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) and the Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
  • The post will be based at the Northern General Hospital with occasional cross cover across the city at RHH, MIU, which could be at short notice.
  • To work as part of a team providing frontline high quality administrative & clerical service within the Care Group delivering an excellent patientfocused service.
  • To respond to an ever changing, unpredictable and demanding workload within the resources available, prioritising their own workload.
  • To ensure accurate patient information is recorded in a timely manner in order to support the clinical flow of patients at the 'front door' of the Trust.
  • To provide a prompt and accurate customer focused reception service to patients, visitors & clinicians whilst promoting a professional, sensitive and quality image as the 'face of the department'.
  • To be a focal point for patient and carer enquiries and act as a liaison for clinical teams into the wider clerical functions of the Trust.
  • The post holder will play a fundamental role in developing and coordinating the delivery of a real time EPR system for the collection of Emergency care data
