Head Waiter

Fulham Road London

Full Time 40 hours per week to include Evenings & Weekends

Salary 14-16 per hour

To Start ASAP

MUST HAVE 1-2 YEARS FINE DINING EXPERIENCE

Ideally at MICHELIN STAR level

Job Purpose:

To assist restaurant guests by noting their orders, serving tables their requested meals, and preparing bills at the end of the meal.

Waiters are also responsible for asking customers if they are satisfied with their meal and providing any assistance should the customer not be satisfied.

To be successful as a waiter you must have the endurance to stand for long hours and have patience with difficult customers.

A good waiter anticipates the needs of customers and provides all services in a friendly manner.

Waiter Job Duties:

Welcomes customers and seats them when they arrive in the absence of a host and if their duties permit
Takes telephone calls and makes reservations again in the absence of a host and if duties permit
Introduces customers to the menu and announces daily or seasonal menu specials, items not available etc
Answers questions about menu items, ingredients, and pricing
Advises drink pairings with food
Upsells items such as sides, specials, an extra drink, dessert
Takes customers' orders for food and drink & enters onto the till system accurately making clear notations about dietaries, allergens and so on
Assists the bar staff with drinks preparation if required and serves them to customers
Collects food orders from the service trays (possibly occasionally from the kitchen), verifies that they are correct, and serves them to customers
Ensures that customers are satisfied with their meals and processes orders for additional courses if necessary
Removes used dishes, glasses, and flatware from tables
Prepares bills and delivers them to customers
Processes cash and credit card payments and returns change to customers if necessary
Sets tables with dishes, glasses, flatware and condiments
Maintains familiarity with menu items, specials, and restaurant information
Meets with managers and wait staff daily or regularly to learn about menu changes and specials as well as discuss upcoming reservations and customers with special needs
Assists in the setup and shut down of the restaurant/bar
Some general purpose cleaning duties to ensure the room is always immaculately clean and ready to receive guests including toilet checks
Occasional acceptance of drink deliveries when required

Waitress/ Waiter Skills and Qualifications:

Teamwork, Ability to Work Under Pressure, Attention to Detail, Ability to Multitask, Written and Verbal Communication, Customer Service Skills, Interpersonal Communication Positive Attitude, Physical Stamina, and Familiarity With Alcohol Restrictions or Laws.
