National Grid and its Business Units are pivotal to enabling the Net Zero transition, and Strategy is the engine room for this, setting the direction for National Grid to operate in, to deliver a clean, fair and affordable energy future for all.

This team drives National Grid's Group Strategy, by monitoring fundamental market conditions, changes in the external business environment and analysing the potential impact on the company.

We work across all NG businesses to formulate recommendations for changes to the company and business unit strategies.


Key Accountabilities:

You'll be running workstreams of larger strategy projects of the highest priority, alongside smaller projects.

Your curiosity, attention to detail and focus will enable you to absorb the questions and break the problems into manageable building blocks - quickly picking up the sector content and understanding required.

You'll lead and undertake primary research, developing structured and insightful strategic analysis; and by translating this into meaningful insights and recommendations, you'll create high quality Board and Executive level communications to shape prominent strategic decisions.

About You:


You're a collaborative Strategy professional, with proven strategy development and strategic thinking experience in corporate Business Strategy (from a large global business), or exposure to the Energy / Utilities sector from a Consultancy would be especially well regarded.

You're analytical, inquisitive, able to constructively challenge, whilst building strong and meaningful relationships with stakeholders internally and externally.

Your enthusiasm for sharing knowledge with others and openness to diverse ideas, will enable you to successfully solve complex problems, and present them to large audiences.

Salary up to £75,000 - dependent on experience

We offer a hybrid and flexible working approach, a mix of working in the office 2 days per week and the rest home working.

Our standard working week is 37 hours, though we can also offer some flexibility in terms of hours / times if required.
