Times Radio is the nation's newest digital news radio station, bringing together the peerless journalistic expertise of The Times and The Sunday Times with the world-class speech radio and podcasting experience of News Broadcasting, the company behind talkSPORT, talkRADIO and Virgin Radio.


The Team:
We are a new and innovating voice in national digital radio.

Broadcasting live and daily, we will deliver provocative, well-informed, entertaining and useful discussion covering the key stories of the day, and informing the national debate.

We bring together the peerless journalistic expertise of The Times and The Sunday Times, and beyond, with the world-class speech radio and podcasting experience of Wireless


Being an intern at Times Radio is a gateway to a great career in broadcast Journalism. During this paid internship you will get full training, 5 days a week with Times Radio doing the job and gaining market leading experience.


The Role:

You will spend time with our industry leading broadcasting team; You will learn how to craft brilliant ideas ready for broadcast on one of the country's leading news radio stations, while also supporting the country's leading producers in researching story ideas and guests.

As an Intern Broadcast Assistant, you will work for the programme producer and alongside the assistant producers to help originate story ideas and come up with suggestions for guests and treatments to create intelligent speech radio that is a compulsive and engaging listen.

You will either be working on the breakfast show or the weekend shows. There is no better first step into broadcast journalism than this.

You'll learn everything we can teach you about how to create content, tell and share stories, attract, grow and capture an audience.


You will receive mentoring and coaching bespoke to you and delivered by some of the most experienced and journalists in the industry.


At the end of the 6 month programme you'll complete your internship with great experiences, knowledge and network in journalism.

What we are looking for from you:

  • You will be passionate about News and able to use your initiative to produce first-class stories.
  • A passion for radio production and an ear for great audio.
  • You will be able to create engaging content both on air and on line.
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills are essential as is a flair for delivering standout content on social media.
  • Flexible attitude to working hours across seven days including evenings and weekends in line with breaking news.
  • An understanding of the Times Radio brand, both print and digital and on air.
  • Positive cando attitude and good team player.
