Description
This role is to provide administrative support to research teams and catalogue our repository of clinical samples.

The administrator will work closely with the Senior Research Nurse and Clinical Trials Manager and will provide support to the research team, be a contact point for professionals and research participants and be responsible for data entry, arranging meetings, taking minutes, arranging clinic appointments and filing study documents


The post holder will catalogue our repository of clinical samples and ensure ongoing management of these research samples to ensure compliance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures and current legislation.


The Academic Respiratory Unit is based in the Learning & Research building at Southmead Hospital and spans across both North Bristol NHS Trust and the University of Bristol.

We design, lead and deliver research into a wide range of respiratory conditions, with a particular focus on clinical studies and trials.

Our unit has particular interests in pleural disease, airways diseases such as asthma and COPD, and interstitial lung disease.


Our Unit's objective is to play a positive role in advancing the understanding and treatment of lung disease for people everywhere.


The Respiratory Research Unit is based in the Clinical Research Centre at Southmead Hospital and delivers research in pleural disease, airways diseases such as asthma and COPD, and interstitial lung disease.

A large part of this role will be to organise and catalogue our existing clinical sample repository.

We have collected ~15,000 samples of blood and pleural fluid since 2008 and these need cataloguing to future proof our sample repository and enable the sharing of these samples with other research teams.
