An exciting opportunity has arisen to join East Suffolk & North Essex Trust as the Harm Free Care Lead, Specialist Falls Practitioner.

The post holder will lead the Falls Prevention Team across ESNEFT.

The successful applicant will take the lead role in delivering a sustained reduction in the falls rate of patients in the Trust.


You will have a good understanding of national falls prevention programmes and extensive knowledge of falls prevention strategies, with experience in managing falls improvement programmes.

You will work across all staff groups to inform, educate and encourage all staff to ensure the prevention of falls is a key priority for all staff.


The Harm Free Care Lead, Specialist Falls Practitioner will take the lead role in delivering a sustained reduction in the falls rate of patients in the Trust.


You will monitor the effectiveness of the Trust Falls improvement plan ensuring that the Trust is compliant with the National guidelines on reducing falls.


As the Specialist Falls Practitioner you will provide specialist advice and guidance for the clinical areas and act as a resource of evidence based knowledge to enable appropriate and timely identification, assessment, treatment and management for all those who have fallen or are at risk of falling.

You will lead the Falls team at ESNEFT, working closely with Trust staff. To provide expert advice to the Trust on all issues relating to falls prevention and investigation.

  • To work autonomously as a Lead Specialist Falls Practitioner in strategic oversight of the prevention of inpatient falls across ESNEFT, which includes Acute Hospitals, Community Hospitals and working collaboratively across the Community Services.
  • The Specialist Falls Practitioner will be instrumental to the continued development and coordination of a personcentered falls prevention service across ESNEFT.
  • The post holder will contribute to and effectively implement strategic planning to ensure the collaborative multiprofessional working in the management of falls prevention and reducing harm from falls.
  • Will actively support the Trust's Falls Prevention Clinical Leads in meeting the Trust's objectives set out in the Falls Prevention Strategy and annually agreed falls reduction targets
  • To review and analyse data relating to patient falls within the Trust and formally report monthly findings and trends and make recommendations to the Trust's Falls Operational Group.
  • Will work closely with peer Falls Practitioners both locally and nationally with an aim to promote collaborative working and improve standards of patient care.
  • The role will provide a significant opportunity for an innovative, forward thinking practitioner to help shape services in line with national guidance and local objectives in the management of falls and promote patient safety.
  • The post holder will operate at a clinical level to complement and support members of the multiprofessional team in the safe management of patients identified at risk of falling.
  • The post holder is integral to the delivery of safe, effective, consistent and high quality care for patients and their carers and in collaboration with colleagues will be instrumental in promoting clinical excellence and best practice
