Description

About the role:

As a Research Associate, you will lead on the development of solvents and materials within the remit of the H2020project 'Sol-Rec2' (RP12G0536).

The project is part of the Cambridge-based Materials Innovation Centre (MatIC) which is a long-term strategic partnership between TWI and the University of Leicester, which focuses on materials characterization, materials modelling and novel materials development.

This is a progressive and exciting post where the researcher will work closely with Dr Paul to develop technologies for recycling of polymer-metal systems.

The focus of the development is on non-toxic solvents for separation of polymer-metal systems. The Project will ultimately develop a technology demonstrator prototype of the extraction of metals and polymers from mixed waste.

This post holder is expected to provide support to develop the solvents, evaluate the performance and assess the quality of the extracted materials.

You will foster and encourage collaborative research projects in your research area, whilst interacting with project partners. You will assist in developing the strategic plan for the project, ensuring that the key milestones are met.

About you:

With a PhD (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymers/Materials, Engineering or a closely related field, you will maintain effective communication with the project partners.

You are expected to display sustained productivity in respect of research publications with a clearly established track record of publication covering recycling, solvent engineering, materials/polymer science and engineering within which you have made contribution to the field.

Ideally, your research strengths should include ionic liquid development, solvent modelling and materials recovery.
