Wardie After School Club - Qualified Playworker Vacancy (part-time)
Wardie Afterschool Club is seeking a Playworker to support with the day to day care of children aged 4-11 in a popular afterschool setting. The afterschool club is well established and keen to recruit a qualified playworker to join our small team. We are looking for someone to work Monday to Thursday during term time and Monday to Friday on a rota basis in our holiday clubs. Additional hours may be available on a Friday as and when required to meet the needs of the service.
The term time hours are:
Monday's 1:15-6:00pm
Tuesday-Thursday 2:15pm-6:00pm
Friday's as needed 12noon-6:00pm

RATE:
£11.98 qualified rate per hour.

Job summary:
- Assist with day to day activities of the club
- Provide quality play care within the club's framework
- Follow the policies and procedures
- Expected to work over the February, Easter and Summer holiday clubs.

Hourly Rate:
Dependent on Qualifications and experience. £11.98 for qualified playworker. There may be additional hours on a Friday as and when required by the service.
Working relationships:
Children attending the club and their parents/carers
Management and staff, including students and volunteers
Schools and registering authorities
Main duties include:
- Assist with planning, preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
- Providing comprehensive care for the children including collecting them from school and delivering them safely to parents or carers.
- Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
- Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
- Administering first aid when necessary.
- Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.
- Helping with club administration, where necessary.
- Encouraging parental involvement in the club.
- Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents, and schools.
- Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.
- Keeping the work environment healthy, safe and secure.
- Working within the framework of the club's policies and procedures.

Essential qualities

Must be willing to undertake a PVG check as this role is regulated work with children
:
- Experience of working with 4 to 11 year olds
- Understanding the varied needs of children and their families
- Understanding the issues involved in the delivery of quality play care
- Understanding the issues of equal opportunities
- Provide and facilitate safe and creative play
- Good communication skills
- Able to work as part of a team
Must be willing to register with the SSSC.
Desirable qualities
- Sound judgement and common sense
- Sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the wellbeing of the children
- Experience of working within a playbased setting
- Experience of administration
- Competent in using IT to support play and club administration
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Relevant qualification or willingness to work towards this
- Appropriate child protection training
- Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate
- Food Hygiene Certificate
Salary:
£11.98 if qualified to SVQ 3 level for SSSC Registration.
