The main duties of the role are to ensure that the patient receives a high standard of care in the department.


You will need:


  • An understanding of the pivotal role Pre Assessment has in the inpatient pathway
  • Good IT skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Able to utilise a variety of strategies to communicate effectively with adults and those involved in their care.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • To be responsible for delivery of a high standard of administrative/ secretarial services to the Anaesthetic team.
  • To establish and maintain appropriate records and logs of correspondence received and dispatched by the office
  • Answer the telephone and answer queries from patients and internal / external staff providing information as requested and as per department protocols
  • Develop and maintain databases as required by the role
  • Work under your own initiative as well as under guidance from medical clinicians and line management.
We are a small team located in the outpatients department.

- We work closely with our Anaesthetist colleagues and have good working relationships with all of the MDT members ensuring the patient's pathway is seamless.

We allocate a "buddy" during the probation period. We provide a high level of support on an on-going basis

  • To ensure that joint working and close cooperation is developed and maintained with staff, both internal and external, to provide a complete and patient focused pathway.
  • Booking of Pre Assessment Anaesthetic appointments into the appropriate / clinicians clinics
  • Carry out any office duties, such as dealing with post and photocopying; be responsible for document filing and ensure that the relevant records are organised, accessible and up to date.
  • Scanning of documents onto Note On.
  • Answer the telephone and answer queries from patients and internal / external staff providing information as requested and as per department protocols

  • Coordinate clerical and administrative tasks associated with new initiatives/priorities.
  • Work under your own initiative as well as under guidance from medical clinicians and line management.
  • Able to Support both Administrative and Nursing Staff.
