***: Reporting to the Head of Operations & Procurement the successful incumbent will manage the negotiation, purchase, delivery, and control of Direct Materials including all raw material, inventory levels and stock control to meet production plans and operational requirements while achieving established financial targets.


This role's duties will require leading with integrity and reliability and having the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability.

This position is for a creative team player with a talent for challenging the status quo, unique ideas and influence.


The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet's principles of continuous improvement, customer-driven innovation and a win-first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Plan, negotiate, procure and manage direct materials including raw materials to support plant operations.
  • Develop and implement direct material procurement strategies.
  • Develop and negotiate LTA and/or Supply Agreements to enhance supply stability/efficiency
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration with site teams including planning and Operations.
  • Collaborate directly with suppliers on purchasing initiatives, process improvement metrics, and relationship building.
  • Identify and drive purchasing cost reduction and cost avoidance projects
  • Develop and drive Supplier performance metrics through identified action plans
  • Establish an inventory strategy for raw material supply to support the SIOP process.
  • Build and develop key supplier relationships
  • Additional duties as requested by management.

Other Duties:


  • Provide expertise and information to support local management in decision making/analysis
  • Seek innovative approaches to minimize expenditure without adverse effects to business performance
  • Participate in Health & Safety Leadership activities
  • Active participation in site procurement meetings
  • Focus on streamlining processes, driving efficiencies and automation
  • Closely monitor controllable spend levels, ensuring planned spend levels are achieved, while relentlessly identifying improvement opportunities
  • Continuous assessment of risks and opportunities, advising the Head of Operations & Procurement of actions required to mitigate risks and maximize opportunities
  • Evaluate, assess, implement and maintain internal controls to ensure risks are eliminated

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:


  • Demonstrable negotiation skills
  • Proven analytical skills defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
  • Full understanding of Commercial Competition Compliance Law
  • Able to build and deliver effective presentations
  • Excel skills
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Lean principles and tools and are a plus.
  • Communication and relationshipbuilding ability at all levels
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines, whilst ensuring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to understand business strategy & plant operations
  • Ability to interpret financial data and analysis and 'sense check' data
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of Tecomet personnel at all levels
  • Friendly, calm, eventempered, and a mature outlook
  • Excellent incisiveness, business acumen, and sound judgment
  • Excellent understanding of the comprehensive and real business impact of internal control deficiencies
