The Company


My client is a process engineering specialist who design and manufacture turnkey process solutions for clients in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and materials handling amongst other industries.

The company have a trading history that dates back over 200 years and a senior management and directorship team who are all home grown from within the business.


The company employs more than 300 staff of which over 150 are employed in professional engineering roles (many of whom are chartered engineers) across software, process, electrical and mechanical disciplines.

The company are experienced huge growth in capital projects won and have grown from £25 million to £100 million in a four-year period with plans to be over a £120 million business by 2024.


Due to this growth and the complexity of their larger scale projects focussing in and around Scotland, they now require a Senior HSE Advisor to provide support across their production and project sites.


The Role


The Senior HSE Advisor will be responsible for benchmarking and advising on health and safety at project sites in Scotland and at the production site based near Edinburgh.

The role will be split between spending 1-2 days per week on the production site carrying out:

  • Health and safety audits on the practices and processes in place
  • Identifying any follow up actions or lessons learned that are required
  • Carrying out some HSE toolbox talks to educate where required


The rest of the week would be spent at project sites that are running across Scotland & the UK (primarily Scotland focussed for the foreseeable future) therefore, this will mean at least 1 night per week spent away from home.


The successful Senior HSE Advisor will:

  • Carry out site audits against the CDM regulations
  • Carrying out site walks for visual inspection
  • Carrying out confined space and working at height checks/audits
  • Contractor management
  • Identify where the gaps are and advise lack of compliance
  • Assist in bridging the gaps
  • Carry out toolbox talks on HSE
  • Lead any accident or near miss investigations
  • The Site Managers/Site Leads have overall HSE ownership this role is to benchmark and support

_ Given the nature of the role, there could be some site support overseas if required in North America_

The Person

  • Have experience working within a HSE Advising capacity within either a manufacturing or construction environment
  • Experience with working at heights, confined spaces and contractor management would be highly beneficial
  • Happy to travel to sites across North Scotland and potentially further afield c2 days per week
  • Accident investigation experience
  • Previous experience auditing
