If you have a strong interest and experience in working with adults with complex conditions in a fast paced environment, come and join our talented Speech and Language Therapy Team in the state of the art new Royal Liverpool Hospital.


We are looking for a clinical team lead band 7 to drive the development and implementation of innovative dysphagia and communication pathways within Emergency and Acute medical care.

The post holder will be part of a team managing complex dysphagia and communication caseloads. Experience in Videofluoroscopy and FEES is desired.


You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.


This role will provide opportunities to develop both clinical and leadership skills within the SLT team and wider organisation, e.g.

videofluoroscopy and FEES.

You will work closely with the band 8 clinical leads and other band 7 lead SLTs, with regular opportunities for senior support and peer supervision.

Requests for part time, flexibleworking, secondment will all be considered. A training post may be offered if appropriate (Annex 21).


You will be supported by expert speech and language therapists working in advanced dysphagia, critical care, voice, asthma and respiratory.

We have robust caseload management and prioritisation processes.

3 videofluoroscopy clinics run weekly and we have a well-established FEES and laryngeal endoscopy training programme for senior clinicians supported by 3, level 3 FEES practitioners.


Band 7 employees provide clinical lead roles and are required to supervise junior therapists and assistant staff and to support and train the wider MDT.

Band 7 staff also deputise for 8a team leads. You will be encouraged to support service development through participation in internal and external projects.

Management and provision of highly specialist Speech & Language Therapy, using models of best practice to assess the client's needs, and to provide therapy, advice and support for the patient.

Evaluation of clients' needs in order to give effective support at the right time, involving prioritisation of the caseload, according to recently reviewed literature and clinical effectiveness guidelines
Management and provision of highly specialist SLT for specified clients, by
assessing needs and then providing programmes and resources, which are
reviewed and up-dated regularly.
Support for colleagues within and outside of Speech & Language Therapy, including the provision of student placements.
