Exchequer Services Officer (Income)
£24,823 - £28,831 per annum

About the role


The role of Exchequer Services Officer (Income) is part of the Council's Finance function and sits within the Exchequer Services (Income) area, which oversees incoming payments worth over £500million a year ranging from commercial rents to care alarm fees.

The primary objective of Exchequer Services Officer (Income) role is to
- ensure that all incoming payments (received into Council by bank transfer, direct debit, online payments, payments by card, cash or cheque) are timely and accurately processed and allocated.
- make necessary entries in the income management system and general ledger.
- maintain reconciliation for receipts between bank and cash statements and the cash control accounts in general ledger.


This role also covers handling of Council's insurance claims (up to 40 insurance claims a year) and other ad hoc finance activities.


About you

  • You are an enthusiastic and selfmotivated individual seeking to start or continue your career in Finance.
  • You are a person who loves working with numbers, attentive to the detail, curious about Finance and passionate about digitalisation and IT systems.
  • Prior experience in accounting, credit or insurance is desirable but not essential as onthejob training will be provided.
  • Good communication skills and a friendly and positive attitude are a must.
