The Maternity and Neonatal Voices partnership (MNVP) are an independently led group who work together to review and support local maternity and Neonatal services, listen to the voices of service users, co produce the design and implementation of services and support the LMNS to provide quality assurance and surveillance across maternity services.


It is important to have an active MNVP which represents and supports those using the Maternity/ Neonatal Services and enable the services to improve.

This is an exciting opportunity for a driven and enthusiastic person to be the Independent lead for Maternity and Neonatal Voice partnership, in which you will be the main contact for all enquiries, leading on engagement with people who are using the Maternity and Neonatal services within the St Helens and Knowsley Borough.

The role has a strategic level responsibility with engagement with key stakeholders including the LMNS and commissioners.


We are looking for an individual who is compassionate and driven to advocate for women and their families and be a conduit to the improvement and advancement of our maternity and Neonatal services.

This role will be a flexible role, working at home, within the community and with the ability to travel across the hospital footprint

The role is proposed for 2 years and remunerated on a sessional basis up to £9,000 per year


Please note:


To be considered for this role you must reside in the St Helens or Knowsley area as this is due to the nature of the duties as detailed in the job description and person specification and must be a service user member, current or previous residing in the St.

Helens and Knowsley Borough as this is the area that the MNVP will be working as an advocate for people using the maternity/ Neonatal services.

This role is a lay person role and does not give employer rights

The Secretary of State has approved the partnership between St Helens & Knowsley and Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals.

KEY DUTIES


The role of the chair is vital to the smooth running and effectiveness of the Maternity / Neonatal Voices Partnership.

The role holder will act in accordance with the Nolan Principles of conduct in public life in carrying out this role:
selflessness, with integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.


Work to ensure service user representatives includes partners and family members, and representation from seldom heard or minority groups, and ensure their views are taken into account to inform service development and improvement.

Demonstrate a methodical approach to work, with clear attention to detail.


MNVP REPRESENTATION


The following is a list of virtual meetings where there may/should be MNVP representation, but this will vary throughout the year.

It is recognised that the Chair cannot be solely responsible for attending all the meetings, so this role could be shared with another service user representative where appropriate:


  • Attend and contribute to local Maternity Forum on the Whiston hospital site.
  • Attend and contribute to quarterly Local Maternity Neonatal System meetings.
  • Attend and contribute to any other local, regional and national maternity gatherings where women's voices need to be heard.

WORK PLAN

  • Work with the LMNS and local commissioning leads, to codevelop clear and defined mechanisms for reporting locally and at LMNS level. This includes coproducing MNVP work plan in line with LMS targets.
  • Take forward the work plan working as a 'project manager' to ensure the workplan of the committe
