Catering Assistant/Cashier
Working time:
10 hours per week Monday - Friday
11.45am-1.45pm-Term time plus 5 inset days
Grade:
Scale 1-SCP 3 (
Salary £4,714.20 per annum (£10. 35 p/h)

PURPOSE OF POST
- The core purpose of this role is to provide effective support to the Catering Manager through the ability to prepare food to a high standard.
- To take payment (using a swipe card system) for food bought by pupils/staff.
- To assist in the main kitchen as required

POST RESPONSIBILITIES
- To help prepare high quality meals for pupils and staff.
- To maintain high standards of food hygiene in the kitchen in accordance with domestic and catering standards and adhere to the requirements of Level 2 award in Food Safety and Hygiene at all times.
- To ensure supplies are stored in accordance with domestic and catering standards.
- To support the cleanliness and hygiene standards within the kitchen, canteen and seating area.
- To maintain daily contact with staff and pupils at the school to ensure a quality service
Complete individual training and development as required.
- Comply with school policies and procedures. The required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.
- To promote equality as an integral part of the role and to treat everyone with fairness and dignity.

Experience
Understanding of health and safety and good hygiene practice in the kitchen.
Experience working within a catering / food environment.
Experience working within a school environment.
Knowledge/Understanding/ Personal Qualities and Skills
- Communicate effectively with both staff and students.
- Ability to cope with periods of high demand and prioritise workload accordingly, meeting all deadlines.
- Work flexibly and share in workloads, particularly during periods of high demand.
