Are you an enthusiastic, motivated and committed midwife with excellent interpersonal, organisational skills and an active interest in research?


A fantastic, new opportunity has opened up for a Band 6 Clinical Research Midwife to join our successful research team.

The post holder will be an integral member of the Reproductive Health & Childbirth Research Team and the Perinatal Imaging & Health Department, working across the two on a portfolio of imaging studies and involved in the successful set up and running of ongoing clinical research studies and trials with a focus on those with imaging components.


The post holder will be jointly based within Reproductive Health & Childbirth and Perinatal Imaging & Health and will therefore work with different clinical teams to support studies with imaging components such as fetal MRI.

This is an excellent opportunity to enable the individual to gain a wide range of skills and experience within a varied clinical research environment.

You will be employed by Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, working closely with our academic partners at King's College London.

Time will be split between the CRN team and Perinatal Imaging & Health, with responsibility for the coordination of and recruitment of pregnant

participants to studies with imaging components such as fetal MRI being present at fetal MRI scans to ensure the well-being of the participant.

The post holder will work closely with an expert multi-disciplinary team of research midwives, radiographers, clinicians, neonatal nurses, scientists,
and clinical and research administration staff on a daily basis. They will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate expert care, and provide support to
patients attending the Department who have been or have the potential to be recruited into a research study. They will also be part of the wider
clinical and research teams within the Women's and Children's Directorate and School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences.

Our team consists of research nurses, midwives and clinical research practitioners all working on a wide range of clinical research studies and
trials on Reproductive Health & Childbirth portfolio, alongside radiographers, clinical fellows, scientists and administration staff.

We are very fortunate to also be closely linked with the King's College London Department of Women and Children's Health and Department of
Perinatal Imaging & Health, and a member of the King's Health Partners, gives us a unique position and enables us to be at the forefront of clinical
research within the field of Reproductive Health and Childbirth.


The role of the CLRNs is to establish and maintain an excellent NHS infrastructure for clinical research and research management.

This
infrastructure includes clinical research support staff and sessional support for clinical investigators of all professions, funding for other NHS
Support Costs such as additional clinical services and diagnostic tests, and research management and governance systems and staff.

The post holder will be jointly based within the Women's Health Research team and Perinatal Imaging & Health Department, with strong lings to
King's College London, embedded within and based at St Thomas' Hospital. This is an established research unit with a long history of undertaking
clinical research studies across Women's Health. The team is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and scientists with a commitment
to translational research.

The research midwife will facilitate and aid in the recruitment of patients to ensure high quality clinical studies and trials which will require the

midwife to work flexibly across the disciplines to ensure the successful working of the clinical research projects they are assigned to.

They will also
act as a patient advocate providing support and assistance as required and assist in the co-ordination and management of a portfolio of clinical
research studies.
