Sustainability Lead


We have a new opportunity for a Sustainability Lead to join our team here at GSK at our Montrose site.

Do you want to work for a team that are invested in your career development? The Sustainability Lead will develop and deliver a sustainability programme at our Montrose site; identifying, promoting and running improvement opportunities to drive reduction in energy usage, water and waste, delivering gains in manufacturing efficiencies.


In this role you will

  • Establish and manage an appropriate planning, financial and performance reporting system to ensure resources are in place to support the sustainable manufacturing programme.
  • Ensure that the GSK energy policy, energy strategy and plans are locally implemented to meet corporate sustainability targets. Liaise with central teams to set said targets and with regulatory bodies for permits and grants
  • Accountable for the collection of monthly and annual data for on and offSite reporting purposes of utility and energy metrics and adopt the use of Digital Data & Analytics to do so.
  • Run site initiatives for promoting energy/water/waste savings. This includes initiating and where appropriate leading sustainability driven projects such as heat pumps, boiler technology, HVAC improvements and the planned solar farm.
  • Oversee and ensure the provision of support and technical advice for capital projects with respect to sustainable manufacturing.
  • Leading problem solving activities to identify the root cause for excursions in energy and water usage metrics.

Basic Qualifications

  • We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:_
  • Degree in Engineering Discipline or relevant equivalent experience
  • Interpretation and use of Quality, EHS and Engineering Standards at local and Corporate Policy level
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Demonstratable high level of compliance
  • Ability to work with staff and external bodies across a range of levels and disciplines

Preferred Qualifications/ Experience:


  • If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:_
  • Chartership in relevant Engineering Discipline
  • Highly developed communication and influencing skills to manage stakeholders across site
  • Highly accountable, organised and driving for results
  • Ability to interpret and analyse information and simplify for a broad audience
  • High degree of matrix working required to ensure delivery of a diverse programme and projects
  • Knowledge of capital project process to ensure that projects within the programme are managed and delivered
  • Networking and building/managing relationships with customer group, central GSK teams as well as regulatory bodies.
