As a Project Engineer Consultant

  • Mechanical at Envista Forensics, you will play a crucial role in conducting forensic investigations related to mechanical incidents and failures. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team of engineers and experts to determine the origin and root causes of accidents, equipment malfunctions, product defects, and other mechanical failure related issues. Your findings will be essential in helping clients make informed decisions and resolving complex legal and insurance matters.
  • Investigate mechanical failures, defects, or damage in industrial, commercial, and residential settings. Determine causes of mechanical system failures and assess design/construction quality or maintenance procedures.
  • Lead field investigations and document property damage for multiparty examinations. Collaborate on large, complex projects within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Research failure modes and provide repair or remediation recommendations; Prepare reports and letters detailing the cause of damage for clients.
  • Provide deposition and expert testimony in product liability for civil, federal, and occasional criminal court cases to testify about damages and professional liability.

Essential expertise to ensure success:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent discipline required.
  • 23 years' experience in mechanical engineering field.
  • Willingness to travel to clients' sites (2530%); ability to work in inclement weather and various environmental conditions.

Elevated expertise to excel/stand-out:

  • Familiarity with forensic investigation practices and principles is a plus.
  • 5 years' experience evaluating mechanical failures in a commercial or industrial setting preferred.
  • Forensic experience preferred.
  • Power systems experience (generators, transformers, switchgear, etc.) is a plus; Electromechanical experience is desirable.
  • Experienced working with lawyers, insurance companies, and adjusters preferred.
