We are happy to be recruiting for one of our high-profile utilities clients. They are currently looking for a Data Analyst to join them for an initial 12 month contract.Job Purpose:
To provide analytical expertise on performance of our clients long-term portfolio of capital investments within Gas Transmission. Support the Portfolio Planning & Reporting manager to drive the UK Gas Transmission's capital performance against the RIIO-2regulatory deal.
Input into the annual RRP (Regulatory Reporting Pack) and other regulatory reporting processes and liaising with key stakeholders ensuring timely and accurate submissions
Key Accountabilities:
- Understand the regulatory deal and be able to provide key performance measures which enable the business to make critical business decisions and understand performance against target.
- Collating and assessing financial and business data to ensure regulatory reporting is managed and delivered on time in full.
- Develop processes and procedures to ensure the timely delivery of internal business reporting requirements.
- Identify, extract and validate cost data from different data sources (SAP, P6, Power BI, Tableau, databases, excel, C55, etc)
- Query data and resolve queries to a satisfactory conclusion with relevant internal functions and business units
- To ensure that the reports the team produces and the processes in place are adhered to the Data Management business management standards around accessibility and publication
- Provide training and demonstrations to business users for reports that are managed in Power BI and Tableau.
- Complete complex data analysis utilising different methods (MS Excel VBA, SQL, etc ) to provide the business with unique insight,
- Build and maintain tools and systems in MS Excel VBA or alternative methods, to support business processes.
Interpersonal, Supervisory or Management:
- Analytical mind ability to work with large sets of data
- Highly numerate, literate and analytical with incisive presentation skills (written and oral)
- Experience in using financial models (in excel or other)
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to prioritise and organise
- Selfmotivated and results orientated
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability in developing strong working relationships quickly and effectively, strong negotiating and influencing skills across all levels of the organisation including external stakeholders
- Ability to communication effectively, complex issues in a clear and concise manner, make persuasive presentations for internal or external audiences at all levels
- Ability to work on own initiative, flexible, dynamic and selfmotivated
Technical or Specialist:
- Highly computer literate excellent use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Accurate and exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience of project accounting in a construction, energy or utilities environment
- Awareness of period accounting and accounting practices
- Experience of working with data, variance analysis of standard and actual costs
- Experience of undertaking data analysis, querying data to reach satisfactory conclusions with relevant internal functions and operational business units, variance analysis of standard and actual costs
- Ability to accurately work with high volumes of data and adopt all best practices associated with storing, manipulating and handling data
- High level of Numeracy
- Accurate, Meticulous and methodical in preparation of numerical data
- Experience of working on core cost systems (SAP) plus high level of competence in using MS Excel VBA, Power BI or SQL
- Knowledge GT Regulatory process
- Good knowledge of the Gas Transmission system
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to quickly form professional relationships with colleagues
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, using own initiative, and unsupervised where appropriate
- Proactive and enjoys working autonomously and as part of a wider team.
Qualifications:
Essential at appointment:
-Experience of working in a data analysis role, project controls or a finance related discipline
Essential:
- Business management qualification or relevant experience
Desirable:
- Evidence of supporting the development & delivery of performance related measure from complex data sets
Location:
This is a hybrid working role, with a requirement to work from the clients Warwick office at least 2 days a week
Working hours:
Standard working hours with some flex where required.
