Description

YOUTH WORKER

OASIS HUB EAST SOUTHAMPTON

PART TIME, 9 HOURS PER WEEK (hours to be agreed but include one evening session)

12 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT

SALARY:
£5,101 per annum (£22,672 FOR 1 FTE)

Oasis Charitable Trust is a multi-national charity supporting young people and their families in 8 countries worldwide.

Our vision is for building healthy communities:
places where everyone is included, making a contribution and reaching their full potential.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Youth Worker to join the Hub Team delivering youth work/support, developing activities and opportunities that encourage personal and social development, and facilitate the empowerment of young people.

Key responsibilities will be:

  • To deliver detached youth work for one evening session. Detached youth work involves engaging with young people in the community, outside of formal settings such as schools or youth centres. You will work with young people who may be vulnerable or at risk and aim to build positive relationships with them.
  • In addition to detached youth work, you will support young people with low attendance to return to education. This will involve providing one-on-one support & mentoring, to help young people overcome any barriers they may be facing in returning to education.
  • To promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people you meet.

The successful post holder must have:

  • Experience working within a youth/community setting.
  • The ability to deal with private information and sensitive issues with a calm and confident approach in difficult situations.
  • Ability to function in diverse settings and with a wide range of professional agencies.
  • A flexible approach to changes in circumstance and able to work unsocial hours.
  • Be selfmotivated, resilient, with excellent organisational/administrative and interpersonal skills.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team in a national organisation, making a difference to communities on a local level, while individually improving the life chances of young people.

As part of the package, Oasis offers:

  • A pension scheme, currently offering 7% employer contribution.
  • A generous holiday allowance, starting at 25 days per year (plus 8 Bank Holidays)
  • A Cycle to Work scheme and eligibility to join a cashplan healthcare scheme.
  • The opportunity to be part of a movement making positive change in communities.
