1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB


To achieve a consistent management approach in delivering a high quality of Care to dependant and independent elderly and disabled people who require Care at Home, meeting contract requirements and reflecting a positive commitment to enabling and including disabled people.

To relieve and support carers who are caring for relatives with all types of disabilities at home.

This is enabled by sending, a culturally sensitive and aware, individual to the service users home for an agreed period of time.

The individual is required to perform a range of activities as set in the Employment contract the within Asian Peoples Disabilities Alliance code of conduct and guidelines.

5. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The postholder must at all times carry out her / his duties with due regard to the organisation's Equal Opportunities Policy.

To be responsible, with support from the care staff for the safety of clients in with accordance with Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.


THE POSTHOLDER MUST UNDERTAKE THE FOLLOWING DUTIES:

  • To Develop a caring relationship with service users and care workers whilst maintaining the professional basis of that relationship.
  • To ensure that Service users and carers are encouraged and able to voice their views and requirements, and to contribute to the development of the service if they so wish.
  • To organise regular staff meetings and develop effective means of communication and to offer staff counselling and support where necessary.
  • To attend home assessment visits for new users, and as service providers, draw up care plans outlining the individual needs that can be identified at their home, monitoring the provision and effectiveness of care plans.
  • Reviewing the service users' ongoing needs, re-assessing and planning immediate action.
  • To organise and build an effective team of staff to ensure that at all times service users are provided with high quality care, are secure and are provided with the maximum opportunity to maintain their independence and maximise their choices.
  • To enable staff to understand, identify and meet the individual physical, social, emotional, sexual and spiritual needs of their service users.
  • To ensure through training and supervision that good practices and a high standard of care are offered at all times, working to the departmental policies, procedures and good practice guide-lines; to immediately bring to the attention of the Director any difficulties in meeting or failure to meet required standards together with proposals for remedial action.
  • Collation and extraction of service and staffing hours / statistics needed for development or monthly salary payments.
  • To co-operate with the Director in formal and informal exercises to monitor the quality of care provided to users. To take the necessary action identified by these exercises.
  • To lead in the promotion and service development of the Homecare service, co-ordinating and undertaking
  • To be responsible in the recruitment and appointment of Care workers.
  • To increase the client base and expand services to include clients in all London Boroughs and within the M25 area.
  • To participate in, and co-operate with the HR Manager in the formal appraisal of staff including identification of training needs.
  • To ensure that training needs are met for care staff.
  • To bring deficiencies to the attention of the Director and ensure the necessary remedial action can be taken.
  • To manage and efficiently control the budget for the Home care with procedures laid down by the Organisation.
  • To work alongside Social Services and other local authority colleagues, medical and paramedical and nursing staff, voluntary and private agencies to facilitate effective communication and liaison and thus contribute to the overall development of services for elderly and disabled people.
  • To attend staff and management meetings as required.
