Full Time, Fixed Term contract up to 31 March 2027

Background


The Knowledge for Development and Diplomacy (K4DD) is a research programme that is run by a consortium of universities and research organisations led by the Institute of Development Studies (IDS).

A key component of the K4DD programme is the provision of a research helpdesk service that provides rapid evidence reviews for the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office.

The K4DD helpdesk provides rapid evidence reviews on a range of topics relating to foreign policy, health, humanitarian responses, poverty alleviation, social inclusion, conflict and peace, economic development, education, gender, disability, governance and others.

These rapid evidence reviews are used to support evidence-based policymaking.


The K4DD research helpdesk provide a report that synthesises the key issues and literature and includes expert comments from academics and practitioners.

These reports are produced by researchers based across the consortium.


Role Summary


The K4DD helpdesk coordinator will be responsible for most of the day-to-day project administration of the K4DD helpdesk, including: receiving, clarifying, and recording research requests from the FCDO; tracking work in progress; reporting to IDS/FCDO, monitoring project budgets; preparing quarterly reports; citation searches, copyright checking and publishing and other administrative support to the K4DD helpdesk manager and the K4DD programme manager at IDS.

The K4DD helpdesk coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the K4DD helpdesk including ensuring the timely delivery of project work and timely, accurate reporting to IDS and FCDO.

**Main Duties

  • Track and report on work in progress: Create and maintain project schedules and maintain records of project activities. Assist the helpdesk manager to receive, clarify, and record new research requests from FCDO/IDS. Track all K4DD helpdesk reports and emerging issues reports from start to finish and maintain records of all research outputs. Follow up with FCDO staff to obtain feedback on completed K4DD helpdesk reports and liaise with the monitoring and evaluation team at IDS to coordinate reporting. Produce progress reports for the funder. Keep the K4DD helpdesk manager up to date on progress weekly. Prepare and circulate internal activity reports.
