Overview:

We are looking for someone to join the team in our busy school office.


The person appointed will:
- be able to effectively manage all financial aspects of the school's day to day activities
- have relevant experience in financial management
- have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and an ability to communicate effectively and professionally with staff, parents and pupils
- have excellent ICT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, ideally gained in an office environment. Training in the use of our school information management system will be given if required
- produce accurate work of a high standard
- be able to use initiative to work independently and also work well as part of a team
- be flexible and able to cope with the changing demands of the school day
- understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality and discretion at all times

Salary details:
£24,948 - £30,151 Pro-rata

About the role:

Main purpose

To process and manage all aspects of financial activity within the school and provide support with financial queries to staff and parents


This includes:

  • Maintenance of the school's general account, including monitoring, and assistance in preparation for regular returns.
  • Financial administration of school journeys, trips and visits including maintaining records in conjunction with the organiser of the trip and reconciling individual trip accounts.
  • Maintaining both computerised and day to day financial transactions and petty cash and monthly reconciliation of petty cash.
  • Oversight of financial transactions in connection with school meals
  • Ensuring Free School Meal entitlement is recorded correctly in MIS
  • Processing of orders for supplies and services as required.
  • Processing and payment of invoices on satisfactory completion of work or delivery of goods.
  • Monthly Reconciliation of school bank accounts.
  • Record and reconcile online payments received
  • Administration of the school credit card account and recording payments on financial management system
  • Ongoing monitoring of income and expenditure under specific budget headings and bringing any irregularities to the immediate attention of the School Business Manager / Multi Academy Company
  • Financial administration of in house music tuition.
  • Administrative and financial management of extracurricular activities
  • Administrative and financial management of Breakfast and After-School Club provision
  • Management of school uniform stock and sales
  • Provision of help and guidelines to teachers and administrative staff in respect of financial procedures and requirements, eg collection of journey income, petty cash expenditure, ordering of services and equipment etc.

About you:

Experience

  • Experience of development, management and operation of administrative systems
Qualifications/Training

  • NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification or experience in relevant discipline
  • Very good numeracy/literacy skills
Knowledge/Skills

  • Effective use of ICT and other specialist equipment/resources
  • Full working knowledge of relevant polices/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
  • Very good ICT skills
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults
  • Work constructively as part of a team, understanding school roles and responsibilities and your own position within these
  • Ability to selfevaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities
