Job IntroductionMilton Keynes City Council (MKCC) has City Council and Parish Elections scheduled for Thursday 4 May 2023.

We use various buildings such as churches and community halls as polling stations across the city so that people can vote in person if they wish to do so.

Polling stations are run by a Presiding Officer who is supported by one or more Poll Clerks.

We are looking for people to join our pool of poll clerks for these elections on the 4 May as well as join our database for future elections.

Poll Clerks are required to work from 6:00am to 10:30pm.

If you already work for Milton Keynes City Council, you don't need to take leave to work on election duties, but must have the agreement of your line manager to be released.

Training will be provided and may be delivered remotely online.
Role Responsibilities

  • Assist with polling station layout and prepare for opening of poll
  • Check that electors are eligible to vote and check their ID
  • Issue ballot papers as directed by Presiding Officer
  • Give voters clear instructions on how to mark ballot papers
  • Mark the electoral register and other lists

Salary:
£200.00 per week
