Description

Due to multiple long term contracts, Celvac are currently looking for
Trainee Confined Space Operatives to join our vibrant and dynamic teams of on-site specialist cleaning crews working across the UK.

You will work as part of our specialist cleaning team, working in confined spaces such as pumping stations, vessels and tanks within the water and sludge industry.

Our clients consist of major water companies and contractors across the UK.
Nights away from home during the week is a normal working pattern.


We will train you to competently enter assets, remove the waste media from inside the asset using manual techniques and you will work alongside the team of Confined Space Operatives, in order to suck out the media from the waste water asset and then dispose of the media at an agreed disposal location.

The majority of our work is on waste water treatment sites and pumping stations for UK water companies and their subcontractors.

  • Welsh Speaking (desirable)


In order to successfully do this role, you need to be able to follow instructions, work safely, not be claustrophobic and enjoy working as part of a team.


There is excellent earning potential and a good basic hourly rate with a contract based on 40 hours per week with the overtime rate of T1.2 for all hours worked over 50.

Full PPE and training will be provided and holiday entitlement is 28 days which includes bank holidays.


Celvac operates a Substance Misuse and Alcohol Dependency Policy and all inductees will undergo mandatory testing at the point of induction and randomly thereafter.


Key Role Requirements

  • Fully understand the hazards, dangers and safety legislation associated with confined space entry
  • Have a full understanding of how to use all required equipment
  • Are responsible for all PPE that has been issued to you (gas monitor, safety helmet, gloves, boots, overalls, eye and ear protection) reporting any lost or damaged PPE as soon as it occurs
  • Understand the manual handling of pipework, off and on trucks, under vacuum, into SPS/tank, lifting tripod/winch and securing to the van for travel
  • To check the site is safe to work in and report to management or Team Leader, any unsafe activity, a near miss or accident
  • Understand the nosmoking rules, housekeeping requirements, hygiene and what to do in an emergency
  • To take responsibility for the safe use of flanged and Bauer Connectors, connecting the pipes together, securing and releasing connections
  • To ensure you have full knowledge of housekeeping standards whilst out on site, the use of spill kits, noise protection, dealing with leaks, rubbish, tripping hazards, looking after all kit used and needlestick injuries.
  • To continually maintain a strict hygiene standard, being aware of diseases
  • To be open and honest with the management team and report anything to your Team Leader, that is expected. This includes, near misses, accidents, start/finish dips and any other required reporting on your behalf
  • To take instruction from your Team Leader and be able to work as part of a team
  • To communicate effectively with your team to ensure efficiency at all times
  • To parttake in all Point of Work Risk Assessments, RAMS and toolbox talks and understand the topic fully
  • Monitor and maintain a high standard of work, ensuring operational efficiency at all times

What skills are we looking for?

  • CSCS card with valid safety test, CCNSG or equivalent site safety card (desirable)
  • Driver Licence is mandatory for this role

Experience

  • Previous experience of working in the construction industry
  • Experience of working within an H&S governed industry
