Interim Strategy Manager

3/4 Months (Possible perm opportunity)

Windsor (Hybrid working)

Summary

My high-profile utilities client is looking for an Interim Strategy Manager to join their Windsor based offices on a hybrid basis (1-2 days a week on site) for an initial 3/4-month contract with a strong chance of extensions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the markets in which S&S operates, and support Leadership in identifying key strategic questions facing the business
  • Develop expertise in the S&S landscape and its players consistently driving deeper insights into competitors and influencers
  • Lead strategic projects producing analyses and insights focussing on topics such as longterm market trends and new business opportunities (gain buyin, structure questions and hypotheses, deliver quantitative and qualitative analysis, drawing together crossfunctionalproject teams with multiple stakeholders, communicate recommendations)
  • Support followthrough of strategy to execution as needed, to ensure business delivery Work closely with the finance team to ensure alignment on the impact of the latest plans and forecasts
  • Provide strategy support and challenge to the functions as appropriate, engaging in the key strategic discussions and supporting during the planning cycle
  • Work with operational and support functions to ensure strategy is translated into plans Provide liaison with the Corporate Strategy team and BG Energy teams to ensure close alignment, support of relevant M&A activities and consistent messaging
  • Partner with Analytics and Data Science teams to ensure insights are translated and integrated into business plans
  • Work with the communications team to ensure strategy messages are cascaded across the organisation
  • Coach and develop junior members of staff and direct reports.

Knowledge, skills & experience

  • Work experience in top tier management consulting (manager level) or substantial experience in corporate strategy and / or business planning with strong analytical skills
  • Track record of delivering projects, presentations, or reports for senior management with limited oversight
  • Track record of working in highperforming teams and managing senior stakeholders
  • Understanding of Gas/Utilities and its competitive environment and the energy value chain (desired)
  • Ability to develop strong storylines and communicate them concisely
  • Strong analytical, numerical and strategic problemsolving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to think creatively and identify new business opportunities Commercial acumen and an understanding of key business drivers
  • Strong relationship building, communication and influencing skills
  • Strong time and project management skills Ability to handle complex issues, multitask, meet deadlines, and work on a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues
  • Ability to present and respond to challenge from Leadership
  • Ability to manage stakeholders at different levels
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to shape work accordingly
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, in oral, written, and PowerPoint
  • Team player with high level of accountability
