We work with government ministries, exam boards and professional awarding bodies for high stakes assessment such as GCSEs, A Levels, and professional qualifications. Each year, our software is used globally to conduct hundreds of thousands of on-screen tests and to mark millions of paper-based scripts. Responsibilities:

Joining us means becoming an integral part of an exciting new team, poised to make waves in the education sector

Your role won't just be about executing tasks; it'll be about shaping the future of education technology alongside Product Owners, Architects, and Development teams. Together, you'll craft innovative solution designs, ensuring they align seamlessly with our overarching vision.

But it doesn't stop there – you'll also be a key collaborator with our Product Architects, challenging their decisions and working hand-in-hand to optimize technical designs. Your insights and expertise will be instrumental in translating conceptual designs into tangible technical deliverables, driving our mission forward with each line of code.

As a Mid-Level Engineer, you'll play a vital role within our team, bringing your expertise to the table and actively contributing to projects from their inception to completion.

You're known for your problem-solving skills and thrive when faced with new challenges. You're always seeking to push boundaries and explore innovative solutions that drive development to new heights of scalability and reliability. Your solid grasp of core software design principles, including DDD, means that adapting to emerging technologies is second nature to you.

Beyond technical skills, you possess a strong sense of ownership and responsibility for the work you undertake. You take initiative in identifying areas for improvement and are proactive in suggesting and implementing solutions.

Your collaborative spirit shines through as you work seamlessly with your colleagues, supporting each other and fostering a positive team dynamic. You understand the importance of adhering to coding standards and best practices to ensure the high quality and performance of our codebase.

In addition, you're not afraid to speak up and advocate for product enhancements, security measures, and improvements to our team processes. Your contributions are instrumental in driving the success of our projects and the growth of our team as a whole.

    Experience:

    • Strong back-end development experience in production environments
    • Strong programming skills in .NET
    • Experience in developing scalable software for large codebases
    • Knowledge of relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL
    • Knowledge of at least one major cloud provider
    • Demonstrated commitment to Test-Driven Development (TDD)
    • Experience in designing, understanding, and troubleshooting complex distributed systems
    • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
    • Good understanding of Security, Networking, and Database concepts
    • Familiarity with standard project lifecycle processes
    • Proactive and inquisitive nature, willing to undertake various responsibilities
    • Experience with Docker
    • Good understanding of standards for code quality, testing, and iterative, continuous delivery
    • Experience owning a feature from concept to production, including proposal, discussion, and execution
    • Experience with monitoring, alerting, and debugging high-volume production systems
