Role
The Training Administrator role is a new position within Dog A.I.D. and will support the Senior Training Advisor, and wider Dog A.I.D.

team by carrying out common office duties as well as helping to shape new processes and to ensure efficient delivery of charitable services.

They must be able to maintain a positive and friendly Charity image and be comfortable speaking with visitors, clients, trainers, staff and trustees in person, online including on social media, and via telephone.


We require an all-round assistant, who will work well within a small, friendly environment and is a self-motivated individual but also a strong team member.

This position is a part time post and is based on a hybrid pattern of working from home and our office in Shrewsbury.


About Us
Dog A.I.D.

was established in 1992 to assist people with physical disabilities, improving their quality of life by helping them train their own pet dogs to provide assistance with day-to-day tasks and in some circumstances providing life-saving interventions.

In 1996, the Dog A.I.D.

Scheme was launched nationally at Crufts and today benefits from a team of over 85 trainers and assessors working on a voluntary basis across the U.K.

from its base in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. As of December 2022, there are currently 110 fully qualified Dog A.I.D. partnerships throughout the country, with 90 more in training with 85 volunteer dog trainers.


The training takes up to two years with both dog and disabled owner (our 'client') receiving specialist education from our network of trainers and attaining a fully qualified Assistance Dog status through three distinct stages.

Dog A.I.D.

is a member of Assistance Dogs UK, a voluntary coalition of eight Assistance Dog charities that aims to promote the freedom, independence and rights of people with Assistance Dogs across the UK.

All Assistance Dogs UK dogs adhere to the highest training and welfare standards as set out by Assistance Dogs International and International Guide Dogs Federation.


Key Job Responsibilities

  • Carrying out tasks as requested by the Senior Training Advisor.
  • Office admin work for example; replying to online communications, calling clients, chasing paperwork from clients, sending out communications.
  • Maintaining an uptodate CRM database.
  • Attending regular meetings with the Senior Training Advisor.
  • Drafting, formatting and producing documents as required by the team.
  • Scheduling of meetings/training workshops including booking rooms and arranging online meetings.
  • Supporting the Senior Training Advisor with new projects such as training videos and information packs.

Other Key areas of activity

  • Liaise with managers and trustees and carry out their requests in a timely manner.
  • Create agendas and take meeting notes.
  • Scan and file documents as needed.
  • Attend workshops and conferences when requested.

Person Specification

  • Educated to A level or equivalent standard.
  • Experienced at office administration, with excellent IT skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS36
  • Organised able to juggle multiple projects with ease.
  • People focused and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with tact, diplomacy and empathy.
  • Ability to share key information and reasoning with all members of staff both internally and externally.
  • Excellent copywriting skills and superb attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive, not requiring direct supervision, a person who uses their initiative to get things done.
  • Team member who considers others as well as their own work.
  • Passionate about Dog A.I.D.'s service and delivering impactful work.
A written assessment exercise will take place for those applicants shortlisted and invited for interview. Initial Interviews will be held virtually.


Other requirements
Comfortable with dogs in the office / workplace.


Due to the nature of the charity's work, an enhanced DBS check will be required. This will only be undertaken for successful applicants.
