The Thomas Hardye School, Part of the Wessex Multi Academy Trust:
Queens Avenue, Dorchester, DT1 2ET

Thomas Hardye School Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-Ordinator (SENDCo):

Permanent, Full-Time, TLR 1.1

We require an outstanding Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-ordinator to join a large team working to support students with additional needs at the Thomas Hardye School.

The department consists of an Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for Inclusion, a SENDCO (role advertised), two deputy SENDCos and an SEND manager.

Within the department we also have a specialist literacy teacher, an ASC specialist (whose role also spans across other schools), and a team who are responsible for running our 'Skills for Life' provision which is a qualification that runs in place of a GCSE.

The Thomas Hardye School also has two resourced provisions, including one for students with complex communication needs and one for students with physical disabilities.

These provisions are led by their respective base leaders, but the SENDCo has oversight of them.

We require a successful, innovative leader with a strong understanding of how a school supports students with SEND to achieve their potential.

We can offer excellent working conditions, a supportive environment and plenty of opportunity for further development at one of the most successful comprehensive schools in the country.

The superb facilities include an on-site nursery, a sports complex with company membership for staff.
