Up to £45,000 + benefits

Fixed Term Contract - 6 months

35 hours per week (happy to talk flexible working)

The Role


As Communications Specialist, you will develop and deliver engaging campaigns and communications that support the CIPD's customer positions and raise awareness of key topics that affect work and working lives.

You will lead on project managing communications that strengthen the CIPD's brand reputation and maximise our external impact and voice.

The Communications Specialist will work closely with a range of stakeholders and partners so the ability to build strong relationships is key.

This is an integral role within the Communications & Campaigns team and an exciting time to join the CIPD.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing and executing communications that raise the CIPD's voice and impact on key work and working lives topics including inclusion and diversity, wellbeing, skills and technology.
  • Leading on the overall project management of communication campaigns from start to finish.
  • Working closely with the wider Brand & Communications team and external agencies to deliver campaigns.
  • Liaise with content, social media, press and stakeholder engagement teams to deliver outputs.
  • Using data and insights to evaluate communication success, ensuring benchmarks and learnings are reflected in future work.
  • Leading creative brainstorms by facilitating discussions to help generate ideas.
  • Measuring the effectiveness of our communications and present success to the business.
  • Ensuring communication outputs are delivered to time and budget.
  • Planning, developing and managing regular communications with CIPD members.
  • Writing and editing newsletters, news articles and blogs.
  • Championing CIPD house style and work with colleagues across the business to ensure it is reflected across all our content and channels.
  • Supporting the daytoday activities of the Communication Managers as required.

What You'll Need To Be Successful

  • Experience in a similar level role
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and delivering multichannel communication strategies.
  • Experienced writing copy for a wide range of external communication channels e.g. newsletters, articles, website copy, social media and press releases etc.
  • Versatile and competent communicator with experience in leading meetings, delivering presentations and liaising with colleagues, including senior management.
  • Experienced in working with external partners e.g. agencies, charities and corporate partners.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to develop new and engaging ways to communicate with customer groups.
  • Experience creating compelling copy for a wide range of audiences and communications channels.
  • Analytical skills and experience reviewing data
  • Proven ability to measure and evaluate communications activity/campaigns outputs and impact.
  • Highly organised individual with ability to handle multiple demands and deadlines.
