Job Introduction

Westminster School is looking for a Recruitment & HR Administrative Assistant on a fixed term basis in order to support a busy HR function, during a period of growth and change.

Excellent organisational skills, good communication skills and the ability to work within a team are essential.


Working as an integral member of a small, busy Human Resources team, the Recruitment & HR Administrative Assistant will provide comprehensive and confidential administrative support on a range of Recruitment and HR matters, as well as supporting HR-related initiatives and projects.


The goal is to provide excellent administrative assistance and support to employees and managers in both the Under School and the Great School.

Main Responsibilities

Recruitment

  • Working alongside the Recruitment Officer to support the recruitment, selection and offer of all new staff, including:
  • Assist with administering assessment tasks
  • Building effective working relationships with hiring managers
  • Maintaining the CMS to ensure accurate records of the full recruitment campaign, communicating outcomes accordingly
  • Assisting with onboarding of new starters and preemployment checks as directed, escalating any concerns to the Recruitment Officer or HR Advisor (training will be provided)

HR

  • Provide an efficient administrative service to support the HR team and contribute to the maintenance of accurate records are maintained, including:
  • Assist with accurate administration of the HR database and Single Central Record
  • Deal with external and internal telephone enquiries and visitors, referring to other members of the HR team where necessary
  • Support annual workflow projects as they arise e.g. administration of review process, probation process etc
  • Assisting with management information reporting in areas such as new hires, job changes, leavers, sickness absence, annual leave, etc.
  • Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems
  • Excellent administrative and organisation skills
  • Previous HR or recruitment experience or be interested in taking a first step into HR as a career
  • Excellent people skills and the confidence to communicate with staff, job applicants and new starters
  • Full commitment to the safeguarding of our pupils.

The School


Westminster School is a selective day and boarding school for boys aged 13 to 18 and girls aged 16 to 18.

There are approximately 360 boys in the Lower School (Years 9 to 11) and 400 boys and girls in the Upper School (Years 12 and 13).

One quarter of the pupils board, and the School is structured and run as a boarding school, with an extended day and week and a strong House-based system of pastoral welfare, for boarding and day pupils alike.


Westminster is an ancient school, whose origins can be traced to a charity school established by the Benedictine monks of Westminster Abbey.

Its continuous existence is certain from the early 14th century.
