Reed Education are working with a Primary Academy on the Wakefield & Barnsley border to find a Teaching Assistant to work in Key Stage 2.

This role will see you work in both Year 4 and Year 5 to support the learning needs of different students in the class.


The school we are supporting is part of the Waterton Academy Trust, is larger than an average Primary School and is rated Good by Ofsted.

As a Teaching Assistant in Key Stage 2 you will:

  • Support key students with Literacy and Numeracy during quality-first teaching every morning
  • Work with students in the general classroom, or in intervention groups
  • Alongside the class teacher, ensure that activities are planned to address gaps in learning
  • Pay special attention to Reading with students, supporting their development
  • Manage behaviour in the classroom in a positive way
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all
  • You're a qualified Teaching Assistant at Level 2 or Level 3 (or above)
  • You've got experience working in this capacity in a Primary School setting
  • You've worked with Secondary aged pupils but have a sound understanding of the Primary curriculum
  • You are passionate about education and the welfare of all pupils
This role will run via Reed Education on a long-term supply basis, from ASAP until July. There is a possibility for a permanent role at this point (or earlier).
