Junior School is a four-form entry school situated in an ethnically and religiously diverse community.

The Headteacher and Governors wish to appoint an Attendance Officer who:

  • Can develop good relationships with both pupils and parents
  • Has excellent timemanagement skills
  • Can 'think outside the box' for strategies to improve short
- and long-term attendance concerns

  • Has good understanding of data how to interpret it and present it
  • Is able to work as part of a team but is also selfdriven, able to manage their time effectively
  • Is excited to attend training and learn more about how to be effective in the role
  • Has a good standard of written and spoken English and a sound knowledge of IT systems

Your main duties will be:


  • Work with groups of pupils on emotionbased school avoidance
  • Work with parents, developing relationships and supporting pupils to come to school, including making home visits when required
  • Lead strategies such as a 'walking bus' to encourage attendance
  • Keep accurate records, providing regular attendance/absence reports to the Headteacher, governors and other staff members
  • Liaise with outside agencies and assist in developing and implementing support plans
  • Promote good attendance using an Attendance Award scheme and other related schoolwide strategies
