Description

The role of the Associate Director Medicines Optimisation will be responsible for: Supporting the Chief Pharmacist for strategic and operational management for the Medicines Optimisation service across Buckinghamshire Oxfordshire, and Berkshire West (BOB) ICS.

This will be through clinical and patient engagement, linking with national policy, regional and local priorities to deliver maximum value and outcomes for patients, the local population, and the NHS.

Act as the deputy to the Chief Pharmacist in the ICB and provide expert advice on all pharmaceutical aspects to senior members of the ICB executive and GP practices.

Responsible for delivery of medicines optimisation service to BOB ICB & to ensure that commissioning, primary care prescribing of medicines and prescribed items is of high quality, safe, and cost-effective.


Continuously improve the prescribing and use of drugs within the ICB by ensuring that emerging best practice is adopted for the benefit of the ICB and local patients.

Management of the ICB medicines budgets working in collaboration with GP Practices & improve value in the use of medicines across the system.

Management of some members of the ICB Medicines Optimisation teams to implement delivery of strategy and implement quality schemes, including audits.

Supporting COVID-19 recovery and the restoration of sustainable services.

Work with ICB partners to Lead defined system wide Pharmacy work streams within the BOB ICB.
