The Digital Artist role is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an exciting and innovative team.

The Virtual Engineering Centre consists of a high impact multi-disciplinary group of experts, including specialists in computer science, data science, engineering, visualisation and manufacturing technologies, and is underpinned by the University of Liverpool and specialist centres of excellence.

With specialist facilities at the Virtual Engineering Centre (VEC) in Daresbury and the Digital Innovation Facility (DIF) in Liverpool, our talented team help accelerate business growth through digital technology, with the ability to translate client¿s challenges (whether academic or industrial) into practical workable solutions, at both scale and pace.


With a good understanding of 3D design, animation, rendering and/or game engine (Unreal/Unity) techniques, you will contribute to the development of a range of 3D digital assets using software such as Blender, Autodesk 3DS Max, Houdini, Maya, Cinema4D, Adobe Animate, Character Creator or Substance Painter.

You should have attention to detail, considering digital design concepts such as realism, ambient occlusion, materials, shaders, rigging and pose morphs.


The role requires good interpersonal and communication skills, bringing energy, enthusiasm and a constant focus on excellence to our work, supporting and motivating colleagues and clientele to enhance their knowledge, skills and practice.


You will have an undergraduate degree or equivalent in suitable UX, Digital Design, Games Design, Animation, Games Development, Multimedia, Engineering or Computer Science discipline.

This is a fixed term position available for one year initially, until 30 June 2025.
