Description
We are seeking a Research Associate with interests in flooding, climate, and artificial intelligence (AI).

You will be responsible for developing a global, data-driven predictive system to quantify changing flood properties from the past through to the future, using a range of climate model outputs and other predictors.

You will be responsible for leading and co-authoring papers and presenting the research internationally.

You will manage your own research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.

You will write open-source scripts to retrieve, prepare, analyse, and visualise quantitative data from a variety of sources and contribute ideas for new research.

A key duty will be adapting existing and developing new research methodologies and materials.

The successful applicant will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil, together with research experience in machine learning, hydrological modelling, and climatology, along with a strong publication record and familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field.

You will possess strong coding skills in R or Python with experience developing predictive models. Possession of experience downloading, extracting, and analysing data from a diverse range of data sources is essential.

This is a full-time post for 2 years starting from 1 September 2023.
