Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-organised Administrator to join our busy Surgical Appliances service at both Orpington Hospital and Princess Royal University Hospital.

You will be responsible for providing effective support to the department and Orthotist team.


The post holder will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of clerical support is provided for the Surgical Appliances department within the Trauma and Orthopaedics care group, on both PRUH and Orpington sites.

  • Responsible for the management of booking patients into Orthotic clinics in a timely manner, according to urgency.
  • To assist in the maintenance of the filing system of hospital records held within the department.
  • Manage patient pathway coordination within the Orthotic Services which include first point processing of Orthotic Referrals, booking the patient for any clinical intervention including follow ups.
  • To liaise with the clinical team for the smooth running of clinics
  • Purchasing the prescribed orthotics and surgical appliances through KFM that also include making sure that timely receipt of the goods and providing them to patients through clinical events in a timely manner.
  • Assist in managing inventory for the "Off the shelf" Orthotics items.
  • Responsible for maintaining stock levels of Orthotic equipment.
  • To ensure that the data input into the hospital computer systems, both the Trust PAS system (or equivalent) and any localised databases meets the required standards of data quality and that accurate records of patient attendance in clinic are maintained and recorded in full.
  • Manage staff and ward requests and supplying them with Orthotics as needed.
  • Maintain computerised record systems, list and files
  • To ensure that desk and waiting areas are maintained in a presentable manner.
  • To liaise reception clinics including, the welcoming of patients, booking follow up appointments and keeping patients informed of any delays to their appointment.
