Description of business unit:
The AML Quality Assurance role is part of the 1st line of defence Financial Crime Risk & Operations centre of excellence (CoE) Team within the UK Operations division of Retail UK.
The team is accountable for the management of all Financial Crime Fraud, Anti-Money Laundering ,including Sanctions and Counter terrorism risk, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, activity for the 1stline of defence/BOIUK business areas.
The team provides recommendations/mentorship, project support, service oversight and operational investigation to UK product areas.
The COE also conducts a number of Operational activities including, but not limited to the processing / sign-off for all new & existing customer Improved Due Diligence cases and Fraud Investigations.
We strive to support the business to mitigate financial crime risk and adhere to regulatory requirements enabling us to serve our customers effectively.
Purpose of the Role:
The role holder's knowledge of defining regulatory requirements and key metrics to lead the AML risk is integral to this role.
Key Accountabilities:
- Complete risk monitoring and quality assurance reporting
- Mentoring & development of all AML Specialists
- Provide expertise, advice and guidance on financial crime risk and issues
- Provide mentorship, support and act in a deputy capacity in absence of a AML Risk Manager
- Participation in strategic and operational project teams
- Ensure an effective AML Risk control framework is in place
- Review and interpret data in a timely manner and make recommendations as required
- Provide sign off on business unit policy and procedures and making decisions on appropriateness of financial crime controls
What is the opportunity ?**:
- You will support Bank of Ireland UK strategic growth plans and our continued focus to identify and lead existing and emerging financial crime risks across the relevant Bank of Ireland UK product range.
- You will work within a team helping to define regulatory requirements and key metrics to lead AML risk for Bank of Ireland UK.
- You will assist the delivery of strategic change projects and be accountable for advising and guiding the business on financial crime risks including money laundering risk, fraud risk and bribery and corruption risk, facilitating regulatory compliance and controlling financial losses.
- Build positive effective relationships with key partners within BOI UK and BOI Group, as well as external partners and 3rd party suppliers.
Essential Qualifications:
Group Standard 5 GCSEs or equivalent
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in a financial crime compliance role within financial services.
- A willingness to study towards industry qualifications (e.g. ICA International Diploma in Financial Crime / AML Risk), if not already attained.
- Practical experience of financial crime risks, controls and issues associated with BOI UK products.
- A selfstarter used to working autonomously within a fast paced environment,
- Ability to provide intellectual accuracy to business controls monitoring and risk assessment, development of business solutions and decision making.
- Practical experience of undertaking Quality Assurance, Coaching activity and knowledge of quality standards required.
- Excellent written skills and able to communicate with all levels of the organisation.

- Previous experience of supporting regulator, GIA or 2nd line assurance reviews
