Waking Night Support Worker


We are seeking Waking Night Support Workers to work with a wonderful charity combating homelessness, poverty, and marginalisation across East Sussex.

Brighton, East Sussex


Salary:
£23,832 plus ASHE Enhancement £2,312


Hours: 37 hours per week (average of a 2-week rolling rota, comprised of waking night shifts on weeknights and weekends). Shifts are usually between 10 pm-8.35 am.

About the role:


As Waking Night Support Worker, you will be working in the mental health services for a people-led organisation whose mission is 'combating homelessness, creating opportunities, promoting change.


You will also be:


  • Forge partnerships with clients to deliver an empowering, positive, nonjudgmental, and recoveryfocused approach
  • Contributing to comprehensive risk assessments and support plans, reviewing and updating them as appropriate
  • Work with services and professionals within Brighton and Sussex
  • Deliver support using a range of methods to ensure clients feel safe and secure and are treated with dignity and respect
  • Support clients to engage in meaningful support 1:1 or group throughout the night
  • Administer medication to clients in accordance with policy and procedure (training is provided)
  • Attend training, development, and supervision meetings as required
  • Remain awake throughout the duration of the shift, including reset breaks.
  • To use the Service's manual and computerised systems consistently and to a high standard

About you:

To be successful in the role of Waking Night Support Worker you will have:

  • Experience in providing emotional and practical support for at-risk adults who have complex needs
  • Experience in collaborative multiagency working
  • Experience in crisis management and safety planning
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues in relation to adults
  • Knowledge of associated support needs for individuals experiencing mental health and substance misuse difficulties
  • Ability to respond calmly and practically to incidents and write clear case notes and incident reports
  • Competent use of Microsoft software packages especially Word and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
  • Good time management skills and ability to prioritise workloads
  • Professional approach and attitude to supporting clients
