Band 3 Higher clerical Officer

Duration : 3 Months initially


Rate :
£11.11p/h

Hours : 37.5hpw


KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Delivery

  • Operate all relevant IT systems e.g. Patient Administration System (PAS), NIECR, Clinical Communication Gateway (CCG), Cancer Patient Pathway System (CaPPS)
  • Operate the NIECR e-Triage function to book appointments (This includes monitoring the action table, holding table, triaged section)
  • Add patients to outpatient waiting lists
  • Booking 1st outpatient appointment in accordance to Cancer Access Target guidelines, ensuring that they are selected from the waiting list in chronological order.
  • To co-ordinate, process and distribute a range of correspondence in accordance with agreed procedures within area of responsibility.
  • Prioritise and manage own workload on a daily basis, escalating areas of concern to the Line Manager as appropriate. Exercise judgement and use own initiative to provide non-clinical advice, information and guidance directly to patients and relatives.
  • Deal with incoming / outgoing mail and ensure that mail is distributed appropriately to relevant staff and in a timely manner.
  • To ensure that work for which responsible is processed in a timely manner in accordance with agreed performance standards
  • Provide clerical support and cover for the Cancer Tracker/MDT Co-ordinators as required
  • Continually strive to improve quality, standards and procedures within area of responsibility contributing to the ongoing desire to improve delivery of services.
  • Actively participate in the induction and training of new staff within the directorate
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Line Manager

Essential Criteria:
1. 4 GCSEs at Grades A-C including English Language and/or equivalent / higher qualification
AND 1 years' experience in a clerical / administrative role


OR
2 years' experience in a clerical / administrative role

Experience in the use of Microsoft office products including Word, or equivalent.


Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
