We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with a passion to create and develop a unique and bespoke approach to our amazing service users.
You would work as part of an MDT with Forensic Psychologists, Psychiatrist, Psychological Therapeutic Practitioner, Positive Behaviour Support Specialist, Social Work, Social Care, Education & Supported Living Services.
Our client group is very diverse, you will have the fantastic opportunity to work with Neurodivergent children and adults who may have a dual diagnosis with a current presenting mental health condition.
Our service users are the reason we do what we do, we don't expect them to fit around our service offering, we look to adapt our service offering to meet their needs.
So this means you could be working from the office or in a community based residential children's home or adult supported living services.
As we are a small company, you would have a small caseload meaning you can create long lasting professional relationships with your service users, promote their development and see through the progression and changes your specialist work will have on thepositive outcomes for your clients.
The kind of person we're looking for will:
- Be a qualified Speech and Language Therapist registered with the HCPC.
- Hold a recognised undergraduate or postgraduate qualification to practice as a Speech & Language Therapist
- Have 6 months paid NHS experience as a band 6 within the last 2 years
- Be dysphagia competent
- Be a specialist with proven skills and experience to engage and deliver therapeutic interventions with children and young people with complex needs.
- Need experience of supporting teams around a child or young person to ensure they are being provided with clinically informed living and learning environments and experiences.
- Be a confident, engaging and effective, model, guide, leader and trainer.
- Be highly organised and ready to take the initiative.
- Be committed to ensuring the best outcomes for young people.
- Showcase excellent communication skills and a personcentred approach
- Be empathetic and caring, with a passion to help patients that have a range of communication difficulties.
- To devise and deliver specialised programmes of care and communicate treatment details to service users, carers, and members of the MDT within the appropriate setting.
- To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Speech & Language Therapy interventions and modify as appropriate.
- To formulate accurate prognosis and recommend the best course of intervention, developing comprehensive communication progress plans for independence.
