My client a Housing association based in North London is currently looking for a Assistant Director (operations) to join their on a temporary ongoing basis at the day rate of £500 a day.

Job purpose

  • Plays a full strategic role in operations directorate, proactively contributing to business planning, budget management, identifying service improvements, harnessing technology to deliver services and demonstrate value for money, achieve high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Leads the 'property' Operations Teams to ensure the organisations deliver an efficient responsive repairs environmental service and planned investment programme to their customers

Responsibilities:


  • The strategic management of their maintenance delivery service, environmental service and planned investment programmes which are delivered via a mixed economy of their DLO and external contractors through a variety of contracts
  • Ensuring the organisation meets statutory and regulatory compliance through managing maintenance and inspection contracts
  • To collate and report on performance indicators for each work stream, ensuring that their published service offers are met, effective pre inprocess and post completion quality checks are conducted, and the results of such checks recorded and used to improve performance
  • Strategic planning and development of the service including developing new policies, procedures and harnessing technology to support service delivery. Continuous improvement and value for money is captured and recommendations for future service delivery reported.
  • Working with heads of service, prepare specifications for the procurement of contracts. Ensure where possible, customers and key stakeholders are involved in planning and procuring new services
  • Attendance at Executive, committee and resident meetings, Prepare and present reports on operational areas of responsibility. Ensure reporting mechanisms for key performance indicators are carried out in accordance with agreed criteria
  • Effective financial management of budgets including budget setting and provision of financial information and analysis to monitor contract progress and expenditure to achieve value for money. Support the preparations of annual and 3 year budgets and 5 30 year business plans.
