We are searching for an enthusiastic, motivated and high performing individual to coordinate marketing in support of student recruitment and retention at St Helen and St Katharine.


The post-holder will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating the School's marketing plan for the recruitment of high-calibre applicants and the retention of existing students.

This will have at its core the communication and demonstration of the excellence of the provision at St Helen and St Katharine and will include developing and implementing marketing strategies to reach prospective families and delivering events, and will involve close working with the School's Admissions department.


We are looking for an individual who is creative, driven, proactive and well-organised, and who has excellent communication skills and experience of managing an events programme, and of working with and influencing a wide range of people.


The Marketing Officer will be part of St Helen and St Katharine's high-performing Communications team whose remit comprises internal and external communications, marketing, admissions, fundraising, alumnae services and the school archive.


All staff share the responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the students, in accordance with the School's safeguarding policies.


Key responsibilities:


  • Work with the Director of Communications and Marketing on the development and implementation of the marketing plan for recruitment and retention, delivering a strategy based on statistical analysis and clear evidence
  • Evaluate and revise the plan annually
  • Work with the Director of Communications and Marketing and the Registrar on all communications that target (directly or indirectly) potential prospective families
  • Develop and implement the programme of internal and external events that supports student recruitment and retention and ensure that their delivery is at the highest standard, liaising with the Registrar and the relevant Head of Section to deliver this
  • Research, write and design a range of imaginative digital content and visual assets including newsletters for prospective families and web and social media posts in support of student recruitment and retention
  • Develop and maintain the Admissions section of the school website, ensuring content is inspiring, timely, accurate and effective
  • Develop strong relationships with key school influencers (national and local) such as Good School Guide, Independent Schools' Magazine, Tatler and other relevant influencers and write editorials and entries for these
  • Maintain a current awareness of key admissions and retention marketing strategies for independent schools, and the local school market
  • Build warm relationships with schools in the catchment community, to ensure a positive and accurate impression of the school is consistently delivered
  • Support the Director of Communications and Marketing to develop further positive relationships with key external stakeholders

  • Outstanding communication skills at all levels, verbally and in writing
  • Excellent organisational skills, methodical, accurate and have attention to detail
  • Excellent copywriting skills and an interest in creating original and compelling content for social and digital media
  • Ability to organise and prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to develop good working relationships with all external stakeholders, and colleagues and students
  • Ability to work independently using own initiative
  • Strong IT/systems skills and the ability to learn new skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong design sense

Experience, knowledge and qualifications

  • Experience of a range of marketing techniques and channels such as branding, digital media, advertising, PR and events
  • Experience of event management and project delivery, and working to deadlines
  • Experience with creation of digital content and visual assets for CRM, web and social media
  • Excellent IT skills including proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, CMS systems such as WordPress, and programs such as InDesign, Premiere Rush, Canva
  • Experience of assimilating information quickly, identifying the pertinent points and making them accessible for a wider audience in a proactive and timely manner
  • A minimum of three years' experience in marketing and event management
