Orka Financial is working with a widely recognisable, global consumer goods business based in Langley (hybrid) to recruit a varied Financial Accountant role to join their high performing finance team.

The role itself is a well rounded financial accountantrole working closely with the Finance Manager across the day to day operations of the finance function.

This role will work as a number 2 to the Finance manager and as a result will oversee 1 (or in time 2) Assistant Accountant(s).


Responsibilities:


  • To assist the Finance Manager in preparation of monthly financial reporting and to ensure that all local and key corporate reporting deadlines are met.
  • To produce the monthly balance sheet and cash flow actual and forecast reports within the reporting deadlines for review by Finance Manager.
  • To produce timely, accurate and complete financial information for the purposes of the annual budget process.
  • To prepare balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis and to ensure that any outstanding items are cleared in an accurate and timely manner.
  • To continually review and improve internal VAT controls and produce monthly UK and Irish Vat returns in accurate and timely manner
  • To manage the completion of the EC Sales Lists and Intrastat on a monthly basis, ensuring the accuracy of all submissions
  • To manage the BACs payment software and be the first point of contact for the Bank.
  • To prepare and report on the Daily and Monthly Cash forecasts.
  • To coordinate and manage the audit of duty calculations and reporting in line with HMRC requirements.
  • To perform stock audits at various third party and company locations, ensuring accuracy of GL accounts.
  • Coordinate and prepare all PSA detail
  • To continually review, update and test controls to ensure relevance and robustness
  • To support on any adhoc projects and tasks as required by the Finance Manager
  • To provide cover for team members in times of absence with relation to manual payments made via online banking system and all BACS payment runs according to the BACS authorisation procedure.

Profile:


  • Advanced accounting knowledge
  • Suitable Accounting Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) Newly qualified or Finalist
  • Experience in an accounting environment dealing with balance sheet and cashflow preparation and forecasting
  • Experience of working to strict deadlines
  • Good knowledge of IFRS
  • Efficient in Microsoft office
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with SAP or similar accounting system
  • Attention to detail and good problem solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
Salary

£50,000 + benefits + study support (if required)
