A Law Financial Accountant with experience of accounting for law firms is required to join the market-leading insurer and legal services provider.

Key responsibilities include ensuring the accuracy of accounting for the Law firm.

This will include managing a fast and well-controlled month-end ledger close process, including the preparation / review of journals and reconciliations as well as insightfulManagement Information.

The role will also review accounting policies and assumptions for Law firm and present options and recommendations to senior stakeholders as appropriate.

The role also provides high-quality support and advice to the broader businessin respect of law accounting matters.

  • Accountable for the successful delivery of a number of regular accounting activities for Law firm. This will include planning and execution of a fast and wellcontrolled accounts close process for Law firm, enabling robust and timely reporting to key internal& external stakeholders; This will require coordination with colleagues both within and outside of the Finance Department.
  • Posting / reviewing accounting entries requiring expertise and professional judgement. Performing / reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, analysis & other financial control activities.
  • Reviewing accounting policies for Law firm (including, for example, WIP, disbursements and provisioning) and resenting options and recommendations in respect of these to the Head of Financial Accounting & Control and other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Responsibility for reviewing and updating accounting assumptions for Law firm as appropriate. Maintaining a robust control environment and ensuring all processes are efficient. Actively seeking to identify opportunities to enhance control and/or efficiencyand take the initiative to implement these to bring about continuous development and to meet the evolving requirements of stakeholders, including regulators and the business.
  • Providing support for regular and adhoc accounting activities for other group companies. This may include management of the monthly ledger close process for all Group entities.
  • Contribution to a welldocumented and evidenced attestation of the Financial Accounts as directed by the Technical Accounting Manager.
  • Line Management of junior colleague/s in the Technical Accounting team, including performance & development management, coaching & training, prioritisation, allocation of responsibilities and resource planning to ensure key deliverables are met to agreedtimescales.
  • Taking responsibility for work undertaken by this role and its direct reports, ensuring that all deadlines are met and that work is accurate and of a high quality. Consider stakeholder requirements in all tasks performed and proactively consult with stakeholdersas required.
  • Developing solutions to technical accounting risks, issues and change requirements resulting from business, accounting or regulatory developments.
