The Department of Social and Political Sciences, within the School of Social Sciences, is a vibrant community of enthusiastic staff and students engaged in the study of sociology, politics and international relations.

We offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses in sociology, politics, international relations, security studies and public policy. Our commitment to social justice is a core element of our ethos and runs through our teaching and research.

We have strong links to local community organisations with whom our students and staff work closely to bring about change for the public good.

We regularly have opportunities for sociologists to join our department as hourly paid lecturers; whether your expertise lies social theory, social structure and division, gender, 'race' and ethnicity, cultural sociology, community or crime, we would like to hear from you.

This is an excellent professional development opportunity for you and could be a step towards further work within higher education if that is your wish.

You should be an excellent communicator and educator, with the ability to bring the best out of others and to guide their study and development.

You should have a good understanding of the context and climate relevant to our areas of focus, and the ability to contribute to high quality programmes of study.

Mentoring and support for development in teaching will be provided to appointees appropriate to their level of experience.

Closing Date: 15th September 2023
