Welder - Fabricator

Salary:
Competitive depending on experience


Hours of Work:
average 38 hours per week - Monday to Friday

We are a successful Engineering company offering a stable and lucrative career in our Fabrication shop. We require a time served 3g welder who is able to fabricate and undertake a range of finishing ops, grinding, tapping, polishing etc


Main Duties:


  • Must be able to Weld and Fabricate from detailed technical drawings, most items will either be unique or a small batch.
  • MIG weld a variety of materials including mild steel, EN8, stainless steel etc, fillet and butt joints including multirun welding. Experience in flux cored MIG welding and TIG.
  • Fabricate assemblies with high quality welds
  • Ensure neatness of work, such as flushed weld finish, material(s) surface finish
  • Able to use a range of hand held and air powered tools, MIG welders and Oxy-Acetylene torches
  • Measure and cut materials using the equipment provided
  • Ensure all material(s) is free from damager or corrosion
  • Use our manufacturing system to be able to check material availability, part requirements, part routings and issue
  • Follow WPS as required.
  • Must be able to selfinspect own work.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Other duties as required

Skills and Background:


  • Apprentice trained, time served Welder (coded to at least 3g) with experience of MIG & TIG welding working to a high standard across a range steels of various thicknesses and other materials
  • Must be able to read, understand accurately interpret and work from technical engineering drawings with mínimal supervision
  • Experience of fabrication
  • Good understanding of nonwelding processes such as grinding, sanding, spot welding, stud welding, polishing, drilling, tapping etc
  • Must be a proactive team player, with a positive 'can do' attitude.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience post apprenticeship in a similar role.

Qualifications:


  • Engineering apprenticeship
  • HNC/ BTec National Certificate/City and Guilds / NVQ Level 3

Salary:
£14.00-£16.00 per hour
