Apprentice Train Planner

This role will be based in Banbury, Hybrid working is available
Chiltern Railways operate between the West Midlands and London, providing journey options to Aylesbury, Oxford, Birmingham, Stratford-Upon-Avon and other destinations.
- We are looking for someone who is keen to develop a career within Train Planning. As an Apprentice Train Planner you will learn and understand the about the effective planning of short term alterations for commercial, special event or engineering requirements, as required by the Head/Deputy of Train Planning and STP Manager.
- In this role you will begin to learn and recognise how planning activities impact the business, and how appropriate policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to, ensuring that all such activities comply with the relevant sections of the Safety Case and the current Safety Plan.
As required by the Head/Deputy of Train Planning and STP Manager, to prepare amended train plans in accordance with the specification as developed through the Amended Timetable Process.
Liaise with other Train Operators and Network Rail to achieve the most commercially attractive, well performing amended plan, including rail replacement services.
Ensure data integrity of all schedules and diagrams, and ensure all amended bids are correctly represented in industry and public systems
Liaise with the traincrew (driver) diagrammer to ensure services are timed to maximise the efficiency of drivers
Liaise with the Weekly Issue Manager to ensure services are timed to maximise the efficiency of train managers
Complete, within set timescales, full documentation (liaise with Weekly Issue Manager on progress and completion) for amended plans, including station simplifiers, timetables and unit diagrams
Brief the Lead STP Planner of the plan for onward briefing to other departments/web site
Liaise directly with Rail Replacement transport provider when necessary, and other departments as required
- Excellent communication skills
Good knowledge or understanding of the railway
