THE ROLE


The Head of Infrastructure Strategy at IAG Cargo is responsible for developing, planning and implementing our investment strategy at our key global hubs, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy.

The role will have responsibility for understanding the business needs in each location, aligning these needs with the business strategy and defining the global investment strategy for the next 25 years.

Ensuring the infrastructure in each location is optimised, provides optimal return on investment and meets the business's requirements in a rapidly changing and fast-moving environment.


This includes accountability for:

  • Delivering strategic recommendations on multimillion pound investments.
  • Being capable of being able to flex to work at all levels, from high level proposals, concepts & designs through to involvement in project lifecycles.
  • Leading & managing a high performing team, working both internationally and cross functionally with responsibility for defining our investment portfolio across each campus.
  • Working with and managing key stakeholders at each of our key hubs.
  • Representing IAGC's interests among regulatory or industry forum

DUTIES

  • Maximise the IAG Cargo group contribution by developing strategies and delivering plans on hub investment.
  • Refresh the investment portfolio and manage the plan with a view to maximise return on investment and minimise impact to the operation of the business.
  • Set strategic direction on our investment plans, ensuring that IAG Cargo is 'fit for the future' based on long term trends.
  • Develop and deliver solutions or improvements that consider our customer needs
  • Capable of analysing financial scenarios and market insight to determine the right solutions.
  • Manage supplier contracts with outsourced product providers
  • Ensure all infrastructure projects comply with regulatory standards
  • Work with Airline Operating companies when required to ensure consideration is given to their requirements.
  • Develop new processes and ways of working to optimise cargo contribution
  • Exploit all data to drive decision making
  • Lead, inspire and develop the Infrastructure team.

Skills

  • A strategic thinker with strong decision making & negotiation skills
  • Able to make a balanced judgement in the delivery of conflicting priorities.
  • Able to manage multiple stakeholder expectations
  • Able to work under pressure in a complex environment whilst meeting tight deadlines
  • Strong commercial acumen, capable of planning and managing both budgets and resources to effectively deliver business objectives.
  • Motivated selfstarter who can work under own initiative
  • Able to find solutions to complex, crossfunctional problems
  • Organised and disciplined able to manage delivery of multiple projects within budget
  • Strong communication, confidence and resilience skills, capable of influencing at all levels within the organisation.
  • Exceptional management and organisational skills and experience, with ability to make high level decisions. With a curious mind and an ability to constructively challenge the status quo.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level

Essential Experience

  • Track record of delivery/ leadership of large scale projects in a complex environment
  • Excellent leadership capability and team player, with the ability to build, and contribute to, high performing teams and engendering genuine culture change
  • Excellent influencing capability in driving key decisions with the use of data through to successful conclusions
  • Experienced manager, able to lead and deliver significant transformational change

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within a senior role in the airline/ freight industry
